1 part Rye Whiskey
1 part cognac
1 sugar cube(s)
1 dash bitters
1 dash absinthe
Take two old fashioned glasses, fill one with crushed ice and leave it aside. Put the sugarcube in the other, add bitters and a dash of water/sugar syrup and muddle it. Mix the cognac and whiskey in a separate glass (Note: traditionally Sazeracs only use either cognac or whiskey, the mix is a personal preference). Add a couple ice cubes to the muddled-sugar glass and add the cognac/whiskey slowly while stirring. Empty the glass with the crushed ice and coat the sides with absinthe. Strain the mix into this glass, garnish with a twist of orange and serve.
